Multi-Currency & Exchange Rates
How MXBS handles USD and CAD currencies, unit conversions, and exchange rates.
Currency Support
MXBS supports both USD (US Dollars) and CAD (Canadian Dollars). Bus Operators can submit bids in their preferred currency, and Trip Owners see prices in their account currency.
How It Works
Operator submits in preferred currency
Bus Operators set their preferred currency (USD or CAD) and distance unit (km or miles) in their account settings. All pricing configs and bid forms display values in this preference.
System stores in USD/km internally
At the moment of bid submission, MXBS captures the live exchange rate and converts all monetary values to USD and all distances to kilometers for internal storage.
Display converts back for each user
When displaying bid data, MXBS reverse-converts stored USD/km values to each user's preferred currency and unit. Trip Owners and Bus Operators may see the same bid displayed in different currencies.
Exchange Rate Capture
The exchange rate used at bid submission is stored alongside the bid. This means:
- Bid amounts are locked at submission time. If the exchange rate changes after submission, the displayed amount in your currency may shift slightly — but the underlying USD amount remains constant.
- Contracts display both currencies when the operator and trip owner have different currency preferences.
Exchange rates are sourced from a live market feed at the moment of submission. MXBS does not guarantee any particular exchange rate.
Distance Units
Operators choose between kilometers and miles for distance-based pricing (deadhead rate, fuel surcharge per distance, tiered mileage). MXBS converts and stores all distances in kilometers internally.
Pricing Config Currency
Pricing configs are created in the operator's preferred currency. If an operator switches their currency preference after creating configs, existing config values are not automatically converted — update configs manually after a currency preference change.
